He has been elected as Fellow of the Indian National Sciences Academy (INSA).
Dr Yogesh Shouche is a renowned microbiologist in microbial diversity and taxonomy. He has
established and curated a national culture collection of rare microbial wealth of the nation. He has
pioneered work on insect microbiomes and is currently leading the Human Microbiome project in the
country. He is Principal Investigator of National Centre for Microbial Resource (formerly known as the Microbial Culture Collection) at the National Centre for Cell Science, Pune, India.
He has served on the editorial boards of Current Science, Scientific Reports and PLOS One.
